The Recreation Ground can be found at Church Road and has a purpose built Sports Pavilion which is available to hire. More information can be found in our pavilion leaflet.
Dogs are welcome on the Recreation Ground but should be under control and picked up after.
The area was originally Glebe Land and was farmed agriculturally until 1922 when it was sold to the Parish Council for £225 for use as a Public Recreation Ground. The first Pavilion was built in 1967 for a total cost of £2042.00 and was replaced by the current Sports Pavilion in more recent times.

Cricket and Football has been played here since the 1920's and the REC hosts Thurston Blue Socks 1st Team home football matches and has a children’s playground which includes flat and cradle swings, a slide and climbing apparatus.
A slate monolith was erected on the northern boundary of the field in 1926 and bears the inscription: Erected by Colonel and Mrs Hervey to Commemorate the Purchase of this Recreation Ground 1921.
A public EV Charging point is available in the car park.
