Proper Officer / Parish Clerk Vacancy

Thurston Parish Council is seeking to appoint an exceptional and forward-thinking Parish Clerk and Proper Officer to lead the strategic, operational and statutory functions of our Parish Council.

We are seeking a highly capable individual to lead our team, drive projects, ensure compliance and guide elected members on complex legal and strategic decisions.

This is a role for someone who wishes to have a role at the heart of local democracy where your strategic thinking, people management skills and public service ethos will directly shape the future of Thurston.

Ideally candidates will be able to demonstrate that they have project management qualifications or experience delivering public-facing services, familiarity with local government law, planning systems and Freedom of Information and General Data Protection Regulations. Candidates must also possess good communication and organisational skills.

This is a part time post with the working hours set at 25 hours per week.  Attendance at evening meetings and occasional weekend events will be required, for which time off in lieu will be granted.

Salary scale LC3, SCP 37 - 41 (FTE £48,226 – 52,413) pro-rata dependent upon experience and qualifications plus Local Government Pension Scheme.
