Thurston Parish Council is responsible for various open space areas around the village. Access to high quality open spaces and opportunities for sport and recreation makes an important contribution to the health and wellbeing of our community.
New Green Open Space and Wildlife Garden
We are fortunate to have safe, accessible green areas where local people can embrace the outdoors and nature. The Parish Council works to ensure they are all maintained to a high standard with regular litter picking, ranger patrols and safety assessments.
The majority of the sites benefit from having a fortnightly grass cut throughout April to October and our commitment to enhancing biodiversity means that some locations will be managed as wildflower areas.
The Parish Council encourages the use of the public open space in Thurston whilst ensuring the safety of users and the maintenance of these assets, protecting the land and nature and welcoming residents to use them in appropriate and various ways for leisure and recreational pursuits.
