CCTV on the Recreation Ground, Church Road, Thurston

Due to persistent problems at the Recreation Ground to not only the open space areas but also the Cavendish Hall, Sports Pavilion and Thurston Under Fives Facility, the Parish Council has decided to install CCTV equipment and an Automatic Number Plate Recognition Camera at this location. The Parish Council has adopted a CCTV Policy which explains how Thurston Parish Council will operate its CCTV equipment and comply with the current legislation.

The Parish Council will be using its CCTV equipment to provide a safer, more secure environment for its staff, volunteers and service users and to combat vandalism and theft.

Essentially it is used for:

  • The prevention, investigation and detection of crime.
  • The apprehension and prosecution of offenders (including use of images as evidence in criminal proceedings).
  • Safeguarding public, volunteers and staff.
  • Monitoring the security of the site.
  • To protect members of the public and private property.
  • The Parish Council does not use the CCTV system for covert monitoring.
