Environment and Biodiversity Photo Competition

Thurston Parish Council launched its new Environment and Biodiversity Photography Competition at the Biodiversity Open Day, inviting local people to celebrate the village’s wildlife and natural beauty right on their doorstep.

Whether it's a butterfly on a wildflower, harvest in full swing, a favourite village view, or a glimpse of local wildlife, the competition offers a chance to showcase both your photography skills and the rich biodiversity that can be found across Thurston.

Free to enter, the competition is open to amateur photographers and has two categories: Adults (14+) and Under 14s. Each entrant can submit one photograph, which must be taken within the parish and reflect the theme of environment and biodiversity.

As well as recognising local talent, the competition aims to bring the community together by encouraging people to look more closely at the nature around them and enjoy seeing Thurston through other residents' eyes.

Entries must be submitted with a completed entry form by 30 September 2026 and send to projects@thurstonparishcouncil.gov.uk

So, grab your camera or phone, head outdoors and help capture the nature, wildlife and landscapes that make Thurston special. We look forward to seeing Thurston through your lens!
