Blackbourne U3A is part of a UK-wide movement which brings together people who are no longer in full-time employment to meet and make new friends, develop their interests and pass their expertise on to others in a friendly and informal environment.

Members are drawn from villages to the east of Bury St Edmunds including Thurston and the surrounding villages. We have an interesting programme of speakers at our monthly lectures held at 10am in the New Green Centre, Thurston.

Our lecture title for Tuesday 5th May is: ‘All About Scams’. Rosemary Kemp, who works within a Citizens Advice Bureau, talks about scams. She will cover various scams, including romance and catfishing, Royal Mail, HMRC and Crypto, and will answer questions during or after her talk.

Members only - but visitors can pay £3 or join U3A for only £10 per year! We have over 25 interest groups all run by members and further information can be found on our website.
